Myth vs Fact: Virtual Physiotherapy
Myth: “You can’t get proper treatment without seeing a physio in person.”
Fact: Over 85% of patients report the same satisfaction with online physiotherapy as face-to-face care. Most physiotherapy is based on guided exercises, education, and lifestyle support — all of which work perfectly online.
Myth: “Virtual physiotherapy won’t help with real pain or injuries.”
Fact: NHS research shows similar outcomes for musculoskeletal problems (like back pain and sports injuries) treated virtually compared with in-person sessions.
Myth: “It’s only for people who can’t travel.”
Fact: Convenience is the top reason patients choose virtual physiotherapy — whether due to busy schedules, rural locations, or mobility issues.
Myth: “Online physio is less personal than in-person care.”
Fact: Virtual physiotherapy offers one-to-one time with your physio, often with fewer distractions than a busy clinic. Many patients find they get more personalised attention online.
Myth: “You need specialist equipment for physiotherapy at home.”
Fact: Most exercises use bodyweight, simple household items, or inexpensive bands. Your physio will tailor your plan to what you already have available at home.
Myth: “Virtual sessions aren’t as effective for long-term recovery.”
Fact: Studies show patients who stick with virtual physiotherapy achieve the same — and sometimes better — recovery rates, thanks to easier follow-ups and ongoing support.
